Saturday, April 18, a Loano, the initiative “The Middle Ages in the Square” (April 18), promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano in collaboration with the’Cultural Association The Aleramici of Savona.

From 15.30 in the Streets and squares in the historic center and on the waterfront atmospheres and sounds of the past will be re-enacted with sword, axe, shield and stick fighting in the deepest spirit of chivalry.

The historical reenactment will open with an impressive historical procession that will take the entire historic center back in time.

In Fortress Square will be reintroduced the renaissance court feast: the Ilaria del Carretto Renaissance Dance Corps of Savona's La Medioevale Historical Group accompanied by the musical ensemble Myrddin (Eliana Zunino, vocals and percussion - Antonella Trovato, flute and oboe - Luca Pesenti, fidlle - Fabio Pesenti, guitar) will perform a repertoire of Italian and European Renaissance dances re-proposing 500-, 600-year-old choreographies extracted from the treatises of dance masters of the period.

Also in the historic center, the Ordo Bellatore Company of Armss, the recreational-sports component of Savona's La Medioevale Historical Group, will reenact spectacular fights with swords, axes, shields and sticks.

The impetuous Tagatam rattles will move through the streets of the historic center improvising small concerts in which drums and bagpipes with haunting rhythms will take spectators back to barbarian eras.

On the waterfront, the company of the Carretto jesters, will bring to life balancing acts, knife throwing, juggling and a thousand other fiery circus devilry.

Finally, the program includes the’falconry exhibition of the’“The World in the Wings” Association” which will bring a dozen diurnal and nocturnal raptors on display.
