PRESS RELEASE (2/25/2015)
Saturday, February 28,a Loano, to the 4 p.m., at Council Chamber of Palazzo Doria, the conference will be held “Meeting the body: the body I have, the body I feel, the body I would like”, organized by the’UNITRE of Loano under the auspices of the Municipality of Loano.
The meeting, which will feature as a speaker the expert Stefania Lanaro, will develop the theme of how in Western culture the body has shifted from being a means of knowing the world through pleasure, hope and discovery, to being an object itself, a personal world to be used, controlled, modified in order to have a property that is appreciated and resembles other perfect, modified, observed bodies, objects and no longer subjects.
“The “body” of fashion, mass media and magazines," explains Dr. Lanaro, "increasingly push us to never like ourselves and to never be enough, an object never perfect to appear no longer for ourselves but to resemble... A body that must be rediscovered to savor again the pleasure of discovering the world, to live and to be.
And how to get back to being? The meeting proposes a reflection on the path to possible identity.”
Stefania Lanaro, physical therapist, psychomotor therapist, psychology graduate (bachelor's and master's degrees). She works at the’ASL 2 Savona, In the Department of Mental Health - Center for Eating Disorders and Adolescence at Santa Corona.
