{:en}Sports unites. Even in grief and, above all, in remembrance. This is well known by the teammates of the Doria Nuoto Loano water polo teams, who, until a few months ago, had among their ranks Gea Gamba and Matteo Vadori, both of whom passed away prematurely.

The “aquatic friends” will kick off an amateur water polo match at the Loano swimming pool. It is an event scheduled for Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. and is intended as the first edition of the “Gea Gamba and Matteo Vadori Memorial,” to be repeated every year to remember the psychologist from Tovo San Giacomo who died of an incurable disease and the 36-year-old Loano man who died in a terrible accident at the Capo San Donato tunnel in Finale Ligure.

It will be a “mixed” match, with former teammates of Matteo (moreover coached for years by Gea Gamba's husband) and former teammates of the 37-year-old psychologist. For now, the initiative starts as an occasion to meet and remember, but the hope is that it will be transformed over the years into an important sporting and charitable event.

Vadori, an employee of an importexport company operating at the Vado Ligure Terminal (until a few years ago he and his brother owned a real estate agency in Loano), married with two children, was well known in Loano. The same goes for Gea, known throughout the district because of her work (she had medical practices in Loano and Sassello, while her parents are the historic owners of DF stationery shop in downtown Loano).
