A Loano, i 10 degrees of outside temperature did not stop the denizens who gathered this morning in the Neptune Baths, to participate in the XXVIII Winter Swimming Endeavor, organized by the Tourism Departments and to the State Property of the Municipality of Loano in collaboration with the Italian Bathing Union of Loano, the Italian Swimming Federation Lifeguarding, the Coast Guard of Loano, l’Associated Anesthesia and Solidarity Association Onlus.

Veterans and beginners of the cimento came from Liguria, Piedmont and Lombardy, and not even the frigid water temperature stopped the plunge into the sea.

In 132, after warming up to music, they braved the waves.

During the course of the morning, volunteers O.P.S.A (multi-purpose water rescue operators) of the Savona Provincial Committee of the Italian Red Cross and the lifeguards of the loanese bathing union initiated rescue demonstrations using sea rescue operators and dogs.

The younger Davide Tosi (8 years old) came from the province of Novara and the younger to dive was Federica Giunta (19 years) coming from Turin.

Elena Gherard, Genoese class 1928 was awarded the “most mature” award” e Salvatore Lombardo, cerialese class of 1930 received the cup as the cimentista “more mature.”.

The awards were presented by the Mayor of Loano. Luigi Pignocca, the Councillor for Tourism, Culture and Sports. Remo Zaccaria and the President of the Italian Bathing Union of Loano, Marco Zappa.
