Monday, August 25,a Loano, a new concert of the review is scheduled. “The Concerts of the Turchins - The Musics of the Soul.”, organized by the Brotherhood of the Turks' Chapels under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.
At 9 p.m., host of the’Oratory of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, will be the duo composed of Mauro Piazzi (trombone) and Stephen Rattini (organ) who will perform pieces by Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643), Jean Baptiste Loeillet (1688-1720), Georg Andreas Sorge (1703-1778), Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), Henry Purcell (1659-1695), Gustav Gunsenheimer (1934) and Stefano Rattini himself. The traditional Irish song “Amazing Grace” and the spiritual “Ev'ry time I feel the Spirit” will complete the program.
Mauro Piazzi studied trombone at the Conservatory of Trento where he graduated in 1978. He then participated in various master classes, particularly delving into contemporary music with G.Schiaffini and C.Fuller.
Since 1984 he has been active in chamber music both as a soloist and as the promoter of several instrumental ensembles exploring, among other things, the entire literature written for brass soloists from trio to decimino and the repertoire for brass and organ with ensembles ranging from duo to octet with percussion. With such ensembles he has performed more than four hundred concerts in numerous locations in Italy and abroad. He has also recorded various programs for RAI and private broadcasters. Notable among the numerous recordings is one made with the Ensemble “En Chamade,” which he founded, featuring 20th-century music for brass, organ and percussion.
Stephen Rattini, titular organist of the Cathedral of Trent, has placed the popularization of music and improvisation at the center of his interests. A student of Giancarlo Parodi, he teaches organ improvisation at the Institute of Sacred Music in Trent.
He holds the Chair of Music at the ’Aldeno-Mattarello“ Institute in Trento. He has given a considerable number of concerts in Italy and abroad, playing for important International Festivals and Reviews. He has recorded for the record companies ”La Bottega Discantica,“ ”Rainbow Classics,“ ”Pro Civitate Cristiana,“ ”Ginger Studio,“ ”Edizioni Carrara,“ ”Il Diapason,“ Tactus,” and ”Bongiovanni.“ Some of his compositions are published by Rugginenti, Carrara and EurArte. He figures among the founding members and is president of the Renato Lunelli Trentina Organ Association and is a member of the Organ Commission of the Diocese of Trent and of the Artistic Commission of the Festival of Sacred Music of Trent and Bolzano.
