Preparations are in full swing, in Loano, for the 19th International Swimming Meet City of Loano, scheduled Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11, in the outdoor Olympic-size pool at the Sports Hall, pool base 50 meters.

The sports event, organized by the Doria Swimming Company 2000 Loano, with contributions from the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano and the sponsorship of FIN and CONI, will see engaged 360 athletes for a total of 1253 race attendance in the categories rookies A, boys, juniors and overall.

 

“The City of Loano Swimming Meet,” says Sports Councillor, Remo Zaccaria, “ is part of the recurring events on the national swimming calendar. There are numerous athletes who will come to Loano to win the trophy, which has seen over the years, at the starting blocks, some of the strongest young athletes at the national and international level. As has become a tradition, coaches and athletes will also be accompanied by family members, who will spend the weekend in our city, thus increasing tourist attendance. Thanks go to Doria Nuoto 2000, which over the years has been able to grow this sporting event from a technical and organizational point of view.”

They will be 17 the companies who will compete for the Trophy. The race program includes the 100 dolphin, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle for the youngest Rookies A, while all races from 50 to 200 for each style, plus the 400 freestyle and 400 mixed for the higher categories (boys, juniors and cadets)

The largest team will again this year be the Turin Swimming Center, a multiple winner over the years of the team classification, with his 64 athletes. Among the most important companies in northern Italy will be on the starting blocks the Senago swimming, Pietro Radici swimming, Nuotatori Modenesi and Canottieri Vittorino da Feltre.

Among the Ligurian teams, in addition to the host and organizer Doria swimming Loano, who will attempt to bag medals among the Beginners A, also the Amatori nuoto Savona and the Rari Nantes Imperia.

Numerous athletes will medal at the national level. For Canottieri Vittorino da Feltre will swim, among women, Camilla Tinelli, gold medal winner in the 100 and 200 backstroke junior category year 1999; Emanuela Tortomasi Gold medal in 200sl and silver medal 400sl boys category year 2001; Alessia Ruggi, gold hat trick in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle, silver in the 200 medley and 400 style and 100 dolphin junior category 1999. Among the males will be at the starting blocks. Leonardo Ricchi, double gold in the 50 and 100 freestyle boys year 1999

Important names for the Red Frogs as well: James Carini, gold medal 100/200 dolphin 200/400 mixed category junior year1997 and Lorenzo Zangrandi, silver medal in the 1500 freestyle always junior category 1997.

For Pietro Radici Nuoto finally there will be. Dario Paganessi, a finalist in the men's 200 breaststroke race at last spring absolute championships.{:}
