May 2 to 4, a Loano, will come the delegation of Francheville To renew the pact of friendship with the citizenship of Loano.
The City Council of Loano approved the principles of twinning between the city of Loano and the city of Francheville in 1998. The signing ceremony of the pact of brotherhood between the two towns was held, in Loano, on April 24, 1999.
The town of Francheville, part of the Urban Community of Lyon, is located in the western part of the Lyon region. It is a residential municipality nestled in the verdant hills of Lyon, where a large community of Italians lives.
“More than 10 years after the twinning with the French town was made official,” says the Mayor of Loano, Luigi Pignocca “We renew our commitment to initiate a new opportunity for exchange between the two communities to foster awareness of common European values. Twinning in recent years has provided an important opportunity to give rise to numerous meetings and exchanges between sports clubs (cycling, basketball, soccer) and between cultural associations (jazz music stages, concerts, etc.).”
Upon arrival, the French delegation, led by the president of the Twinning Pierre Vittoz, will be welcomed into the Doria Palace by the Mayor of Loano, Luigi Pignocca, by the Councillor for Twinning, Remo Zaccaria and the president of the twinning Mariuccia Condorelli. Along with them will of course be the families of Loano who will host their French friends.
A big celebration, involving the entire city, has been planned by the Twinning Committee in collaboration with The Department of Tourism, Culture and Twinning..
The visit program will offer French families to learn about the city and the surrounding area.
Music will be at the center of the festivities. Saturday, May 3 at 9 p.m., in the Loanese Cinema Theater, on the occasion of the exchange of gifts between the two towns, the free concert of Riccardo Zegna. The Loan jazz pianist, along with Gabriele Evangelista (double bass), Enrico Di Crosta (cello), Federico Zaltron (violin) and Andrea Melani (drums) will perform the concert entitled “Almost Classical.”.
The musical celebration will continue Sunday, May 4 at 10.00, on the waterfront, in the Maccagli Garden space, with a concert by the folk group U Gunbu de Löa Verzi.
After the concert, families will visit the new headquarters of the Loano Twinning Committee and the Garden named after the French town. This will be followed by a tasting of typical green cake at the booths of the Ligurian pie festival. The delegation will depart on Sunday afternoon.{:}
