Tuesday, April 8, at Loano will kick off the educational project “IThe sea in the Marina of Loano” promoted by the’Department of Tourism and State Property of the City of Loano in collaboration with the Liguria Region and the Marina of Loano under the project Maritime TPE - European projects to protect the sea - co-financed with the European Regional Development Fund.
The project, curated by the biologists from the RSTA cooperative in Genoa in collaboration with the’Association The Compass - Loanese Sports Fishermen, l’Professional Fishermen's Association City of Loano and the Nautical Circle Loano, aims to raise awareness of the seabed found along the Loano coastline, new technologies for underwater exploration, fishing traditions and sea-related sports through educational and environmental education activities.
Over five mornings (April 8, 9, 10, 11, 29, 2014) approx. 300 pupils of first grade elementary school from Loano schools and Milan city vacation home will carry out some environmental education activities along the docks of Loano Marina.
During each morning, pupils will meet the RSTA marine biologists who will pilot a wire-guided underwater robot developed by the Genoa School of Robotics Association to observe marine life in the first few meters below the surface of the water. In addition, a lecture will be offered on fishing and the fish species that inhabit the Ligurian Sea given by the fishermen of The Compass Association. Finally, pupils will learn about boats and the secrets of sailing through the intervention of the experts from the Nautical Club.
At the end of the morning, participants will be issued with a certificate of attendance where good rules of conduct for protecting the sea are explained.
