Tuesday, March 4, a Loano, will continue the theater season, promoted by the’Department of Tourism and Culture of the City of Loano and organized by the Garage Theater, as part of the theatrical promotion circuit The Riviera of Theaters - Province of Savona.
At 9 p.m., in the Loanese Cinema Theater, Gaia De Laurentiis e Lorenzo Costa, directed by Francesco Branchetti, will be the performers of. “Roundabout” by writer and playwright Arthur Schnitzler.
“Girotondo” is a play that from its earliest performances aroused great clamor and scandal. It has the intense charm of a text that, by telling a story seemingly driven by the ambiguous mechanisms of eros and the thought movements of characters duetting over scores with a private theme, actually tells of the end of an era, the end of an empire, the end of a world.
It is a compelling test of ’dramaturgical style“ pushed so high that it reaches very different ranges: from ironic notes to shades of deep bitterness, from verbal play bordering on virtuosity to denunciation of the hypocrisy of moral norms in Austria felix and, in particular, in the Vienna in which psychoanalysis is being born and the Habsburg Empire is collapsing.
Each character in this brilliant play is a piece in a mosaic that exhibits all the colors of the society of the time.
The director's notes read: “In Roundabout we are confronted with a ruthless analysis of what, often, leads man and woman to the impossibility of love, and the author leads us into the insurmountable difficulties that a love encounters in realizing itself. The plot is based on the encounters between ten characters from different social and human conditions: the prostitute, the soldier, the maid, the young gentleman, the young lady, the husband, the young girl, the poet, the actress, and the count.
The author with extraordinary psychological acumen speaks of the general crisis of contemporary man, in a reflection on the human condition in which love sometimes becomes only physical pleasure, albeit understood in all its infinite nuances, and which often and willingly results in a banal, dry and cold habit. The characters are revealed in their truest humanity by the author's extraordinary ability to investigate, analyze and narrate the banality, the everyday, the futility of conventions and the ruthless rhetoric of relationships.”
On the stage, alongside Gaia De Laurentis and Lorenzo Costa, to interpret the many characters there will be Giovanni Guardiano, Vincenzo Schirru, Riccardo Francia, Nicola Paduano, Federica Ruggero.
