Sunday, March 2, a Loano, will close the Loano carnival, with the Grand Parade of Masks, involving some of the best-known characters from the Italian carnival tradition.

Welcoming the arrival of the masks in the morning will be the’Old Loano Association, which for 23 years, has been organizing the Loano carnival with the contribution of the Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.  The Association, in anticipation of being able to relaunch Carnevaloa with large floats, will accompany the masks to the new, nearly completed shed for a tour of the facility.
Starting point of the Grand Parade of Masks, it will be Italy Square, where at the 3:30 pm all the masks will be reunited. After the presentation of Capitan Fracassa, of the participating masks and groups, the ceremony of handing over the keys by Mayor will take place, Luigi Pignocca, a Beciancin, official mask and a Pue Pepin, king of the Loano Carnival.
At 4:45 p.m. parade is announced, which will walk through the city streets to the musical accompaniment of the “Cau de Noi” folk band.

The procession will cross Via Doria, Via Boragine, Campo Cadorna and Corso Roma in the direction of Piazza Mazzini. The return will take place in the historic center.The celebration will close around the 6 p.m. in Italy Square with the Grand Masquerade Ball in the Town Hall Square.

This year for the first time they will come to Loano Ruganitino from Rome, Stenterello from Florence, Al Dsèvod from Parma And they will return to participate in the parade Gioppino from Bergamo and Gianduja and Giacometta from Turin.

(Alpignano), Malanteis and Malinteisa (Beinasco), Bela Giardinera (Borgaretto), Bela Cusotera, Grand Gardener and Court (Brandizzo), Paleologic marquises (Chivasso), Pumalin, bridesmaids and jesters (Lagnasco), Magnin and Magnin-a (Magnan), The bezel and bridesmaids (Moncalieri), King Cookie, Queen Cunetta, Lady-in-Waiting (Novara), the Marquises of Pollone (Pollone), The Masca Munda and the Diau of Reano (Reano), Bela Barutera and the Bulere (Rossana), La Bela Sparsera, ‘l Ciatarin and Rector (Santena), Bela Rosina and her gent (Turin), Trumlin and Ciutin (Venasca), Bicciolano and Bela Majin (Vercelli).

Ligurian masks will, in addition, be present: King Chinotto and Court (Savona), Artichoke King (Albenga), Beciancin, Pue Pepin and Court (Loano), Captain Fracassa (Loano).
