It is entitled “Summer at Loano” the extensive calendar of events that will enliven Loano's summer 2024, and which was presented at Palazzo Doria by Mayor Luca Lettieri and Deputy Mayor in charge of tourism, culture and sports Gianluigi Bocchio together with representatives of city associations. Musical events and concerts, cultural moments and cabaret evenings, gourmet appointments, sports, shopping opportunities, and film screenings will characterize Loano's upcoming summer season and punctuate the relaxing moments of residents and tourists. “Once again this year, Loano's calendar of events is a guarantee," explain theMayor Luca Lettieri and vice mayor with responsibility for tourism, culture and sports Gianluigi Bocchio - Alongside events that are now part of the tourist tradition of our city, there are events that represent absolute novelties or returns after a few years of absence. Thanks to the invaluable cooperation of the city's entities, we have managed to develop a full-bodied and varied calendar of events this summer season as well, which will satisfy the tastes of our fellow citizens and guests with events and appointments until the end of September. Following the indications contained in the Tourism Development Plan, we paid special attention to the offer related to family-friendly tourism, sports tourism and silver tourism, with the aim of consolidating the image of Loano as a destination suitable for family tourism, for ‘no longer young’ and for sports and outdoor enthusiasts. We would like to thank the offices, area associations, and the many people who, as always, have worked to enable our city to remain attractive during the summer season.”.
From June 14 to 16, Loano will celebrate “The return of the Dorias” and the proclamation of the free county of Loano that occurred in 1575 during the rule of Counts Zenobia Del Carretto and Gianandrea Doria. The event is organized by the Old Loano Association and sponsored by the City of Loano with the advice of Le Gratie d'Amore group and the collaboration of Mway Communication & Events agency. In addition to being a historical re-enactment that aims to reconstruct coherently and on the basis of original documents what happened on July 2, 1575, the date of the settlement of the Doria princes and the oath of the Loano community, the event will be an opportunity to enliven the historic center and the waterfront with historically themed performances. Tourists and residents alike will be involved in an authentic journey through the centuries, with a grand spectacle in late Renaissance style that will encompass the entire town center. Entertainment will include fire shows, performances of medieval and Renaissance folk music, juggling and jousting, magic and fakirism, as well as games and creative workshops for children.

On Saturday, June 22, the “White Night”, the long marathon of entertainment promoted by the City of Loano in collaboration with Fipe-Confcommercio and Centro Culturale Polivalente. As always, the mainstay of the event will be the businesses and venues, which will stay open until late in the evening and offer original tasting points from 6 p.m. onward. Great protagonist will be music, with about 20 concerts and performances at different points of the city starting at 9 p.m. On the promenade will be the stands of artisans and artists, who until the evening will display the fruits of their skills. At 9:30 p.m., the big free musical event that is the highlight of the White Night will kick off. Performing this year on the stage in Piazza Italia will be a great interpreter of Italian music: Giusy Ferreri.

August 10 returns to Loano Edoardo Bennato, the storyteller who for 40 years has been immortalizing with his songs today's world, made up of good and bad; mocking the powerful, extolling the human strength of ordinary people, without ever forgetting the most classic of all artists“ inspirational feelings: love. Bennato returns to perform live at Loano with a high rock&blues concert offering his most famous songs and a selection of new songs from his latest album ”Non c'è." The great rocker will take the stage set up in Piazza Italia and star in two hours of music, engaging videos and interaction with the audience, for an event to be experienced from start to finish. An emotional experience with the songs and melodies that have become part of our collective imagination that will be hard to resist; to find, through the power of music, vibrations and emotions that are good for the soul. Joining him on stage will be BeBand, the historic lineup that has been following him for years. The event has been organized collaboration with Dimensione Eventi, tickets available on TicketOne.

On August 20, however, another giant of Italian music will perform in Italy Square: Enrico Ruggeri. Ruggeri's concert comes on the heels of his TV show “The Musician's Eyes,” the release of his new book “40 Lives Without Ever Stopping Me,” and a summer tour that is already under way. The band consists of the unfailing Francesco Luppi on keyboards, the deadly English guitarist/italo duo Johnny Gimpel and Sergio Aschieris, Paola Zadra on bass and the legendary Phil Mer on drums. The concert is free of charge.

On Sunday, July 2, the traditional procession of the Our Lady of the Visitation, patroness of Loano fishermen and sailors. The celebrations will see the participation of confraternities from all over Liguria. The celebration will be preceded by several “build-up” events. On June 23 at 9:45 p.m. in Piazza Italia concert by the Santa Maria Immacolata Band Ensemble; on June 27 at 9:45 p.m. in the oratory of the Cappe Turchine musical concert; on June 30 parade and performance (in Piazza Italia) of the Fanfare dei Bersaglieri di Melzo. On July 1 again in the oratory classical guitar concert with Riccardo Pampararo.

On June 22 and 23 in Marina of Loano will hold the “Summer Trail,” an exclusive weekend of excitement and adrenaline. Promoted by the same organizers of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo Storica, of which every year Marina di Loano is a partner and a fixed stop, the event will allow all participants to relive part of the legendary routes of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo and get behind the wheel of the new and exclusive Morgan Plus Four and Super 3 kindly made available to the organization, along with the new Mini Moke, by partner Romeo Ferraris. Participants will be able to try their hand at test-drives in extraordinary cars with the assistance of qualified instructors; the tracks are reminiscent of the historic stages of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo. In addition, here is the “Sea Trial,” which offers the opportunity to take a sea trip aboard an elegant maxi-rib from the Pirelli Speedboats range. In short, two days that combine the passion for classic and modern cars with the beauty of the enchanting setting of the Loano Marina. From July 9 to 12 at Loano will stage “CUBE LIVE - places, ideas, voices, events”, the traveling review of live performances promoted by CUBO, the Unipol Group's business museum. Music in all its forms will be the protagonist and will enliven the summer evenings with shows designed for different audiences in terms of taste and age, so as to reach as wide an audience as possible. The four dates will take place in Loano Marina and Italy Square. On July 9, the Kart Rosenwinkel Quartet: The four musicians, after repeatedly playing in the late 1990s at the Small Jazz Club in New York City making the album ’The Next Step“ (Verve, 2001), cross paths again, after more than two decades, for this long-awaited new celebratory tour; July 10 Paola Turci and Gino Castaldo will recount “The Time of the Giants,” that is, the magical three-year period of Italian music (the years between 1979 and 1981 of Lucio Dalla, Pino Daniele, Fabrizio De André, Vasco Rossi, Franco Battiato, Rino Gaetano, Lucio Battisti and many others) as never before; on July 11, the festival moves to Piazza Italia to host the concert of Motta and the musicians accompanying him on his summer tour; closing on July 12 with a dawn concert by Pasquale Mirra and Gianluca Petrella, in an exceptional panorama of music and sea breeze right in the harbor. Music will still take center stage at Marina di Loano with free concerts by Raffaella Carrà tribute band August 30 and by Queen Sept. 7. This year Marina of Loano will also host a series of film screenings of the most interesting films of the last period: the Yacht Club's pier will become a real cinema hall where “There's Still Tomorrow” will be shown on July 5, “Barbie” on July 17, “Frida” on July 31, “The Hungarian Servant” by Giorgio Molteni, who will speak before the screening presenting his work, and “The Little Mermaid” on August 7. All screenings are ticketed (contribution of 2 euros per person) and all proceeds will be donated to charity. There will also be room for laughter with the free cabaret show by Ubaldo Pantani July 25.

From July 24-26, 2024, the heart of the city of Loano will be the stage for the City of Loano National Prize for Italian Traditional Music organized by Compagnia dei Curiosi APS with the support of the City of Loano and Fondazione A. De Mari and the patronage of ANCI. The 20th anniversary edition, entitled “Winds of Folk,” represents an important milestone for the Prize, which will be celebrated under the banner of great Italian folk music. Kicking off the festivities on July 24 will be the Folk Night, which will enliven the streets and squares of the center with concerts and folk dance music. The second evening (July 25) will see this year's winners Peppe Voltarelli (Best Album Award 2023) and Hiram Salsano (Youth Award) on stage in Piazza Italia. Lastly, the festival will dedicate an evening (July 26) to the 70th anniversary of ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax's trip to Italy with an original production tracing the incredible best of the Italian musical tradition compiled by the American scholar. On stage, some of the protagonists of the two decades of the Prize will be called upon to bear witness through their music to the legacy of that fundamental research. “This will be a special edition,‘ explains artistic director Jacopo Tomatis, ’It will be an opportunity to celebrate a milestone that is not taken for granted these days (that of 20 years of the Prize) but also to take stock of two decades of activity and to reflect on the boundaries and meaning of ”traditional music' in the world of 2024.

Saturday, July 27, the “Carnevalöa Summer Edition”. Starting at 9 p.m. on Corso Roma, floats made by volunteers from Old Loano and others will return to parade. The parade will be accompanied by music, dancing, confetti and masked groups. And it is always Vecchia Loano that organizes the “Basüe Festival.” On Aug. 12 and 13, hundreds of figures will revive the era of witch hunts that raged in Europe for several centuries, with the persecution of women suspected of performing acts of magic such as spells, curses, hexes and binding. The downtown parade on Aug. 13 will be followed by the traditional fireworks display.

After the success of recent years, the cinema on the beach in cooperation with the Obittivo Beaches Consortium: for six evenings in July and August, the best children's and family films will be screened at Bagni Lampara. Free admission while seats last.
Once again this year, Italy Square will be the real “spectacular heart” of Loano. On Friday, July 5, “Suddenly you...”, a dance, singing and acting performance by Asd Modern Jazz Dance. On July 6, also in Piazza Italia, the “Dance Gala” by Attimo Dance Civic School in collaboration with Old Loano. On July 13, the “Live Grand Gala” of Loano International Festival. with the performance of the finalists and the awarding of the winners. During the evening, young talents in dance and singing will compete for the final victory, giving the audience a show full of wonderful lights and exciting images. On August 18, “Loano and the voice of the sea”, which is part of the project “Youth in the Library-Retake the Future,” funded by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and aimed at promoting reading among young people. The project is inspired by the idea of a library that is a gathering space and incubator of multidisciplinary activities, capable of attracting young people of different ages and with different interests.
This summer packed calendar of cabaret events. On August 14, 21 and 28 in Italy Square is the review of “Loano Comedy Festival”, while on Aug. 24 there will be laughter with the performance of Claudio Lauretta promoted by Old Loano.
On Saturday, August 3, “Universe in Pink”, the event dedicated to the world of women and in support of Loano's “Artemisia Gentileschi” listening desk against violence against women. The event will be preceded by a series of side events. On July 28 from 9:30 a.m. there is “Strong together,” a bike ride around the historic walls organized by Fiab Albenga. On July 29 at Palazzo Kursaal morning yoga session by Asd Stella Marina. On Aug. 1 excursion by La Marca Aleramica with Flaviano Carpenè among farmsteads and refuges at the foot of Mount Carmo. On Aug. 2 at Bagni Delfino biodance evening with Valeria Occelli of “Abbi cura di te.” Finally, on August 3 classical music concert at dawn on the Kursaal Pier and then, in the evening, concert with the group Ant-About That Night in Piazza Italia. Sunday, Aug. 4 from 6:30 p.m. solidarity fitness-walking in Loano Marina and street food and music in Dante Street.
In the summer of Loano there will be no shortage of literary appointments. From June 28-30, the second edition of the Book Fair promoted by Pro Loco Loano will be held on the Loano waterfront. Also, as every summer, “LOA Reads in Every Corner Summer” will return, the initiative dedicated to reading organized by the Tourism, Culture and Sports Department of the City of Loano with funding from the “Center for Books and Reading” and in collaboration with Aps #cosavuoichetilegga, the Mondadori Bookstore of Loano and the Libreria del Conte of Loano. Community workshops and read alouds for children and their families are planned in July and August by Asps #cosavuoichetilegga? and Casa Cultural. Also returning will be the “Literary Garden” meetings (literary, musical and for children) promoted by the Centofiori Eventi Association in collaboration with the Count's Bookstore and the “Culture Tuesdays” organized in collaboration with the Mondadori Bookstore. Among others, the following will be presenting their books at Loano: Daniele La Corte, Davide Siri, Stefano Nazzi, Luca Bianchini, Marta Stella, Camilla Rocca, Daniele Bossari, Ilaria Gasparri, Massimo Polidoro, Federico Fubini, Gian Andrea Cerone, Carlo Panella, Sara Rattaro, Lorenza Gentile, Jacopo Iannuzzi, Riccardo Ferrari, Valeria Tron.
On July 4, Pro Loco Loano is organizing the “Blank-Unconventional Dinner”, a “blank” and shared dinner format that requires no introduction. On July 20, however, Piazza Italia hosts the Porsche rally “From Langhe to Yachts, Wonders of the Northwest” with a tour from Alba to Loano by Asd Sport Cas Nordovest.
Every second Sunday of the month under the arcades of Corso Europa and in the nearby “Bestoso” gardens will return the Antiques and Collectibles Market organized by E20 Free. Dozens of exhibitors will present a selected collection of furniture, silverware, paintings, carpets and objects with an antique flavor and full of charm. Every Tuesday and Friday in July, August and September, from 5 p.m. to midnight at the Rocca Square and Massena Square, respectively, will be the stalls of “Crafts in the square”, the artisans“ and artists' market organized by the association Artigianalmente. Professional craftsmen and skilled artists will display the fruits of their ingenuity and skill. On August 24, here is the "Desbarassu de Loa”, the usual appointment with the last good deals of the season organized by Fipe/Confcommercio. The stalls of the city's businesses will be located on the seafront promenade, offering tourists and Loano residents the chance to browse through many bargains and, thus, to get that last-minute bargain. On September 15, the traditional September Fair.

For lovers of the outdoors, the “Loano not only sea”, the program curated by the Loano section of the CAI. The hikes are free and practicable by those with a fair amount of training in mountain hiking. The aim is to promote hiking as an opportunity for socialization, personal well-being, and knowledge and appreciation of the area. Also for hiking enthusiasts, on Sunday, July 14, there will be a hike in San Damiano organized by Pro Loco Loano as part of the “National Day of Pro Loco”. On September 29 at the cabin on Mount Carmo is the first “High Way Festival” by the Friends of the Carmo.
An entertainment event is planned on June 29 in Piazza Italia by Asd Basket Loano Garassini, which has organized a summer basketball camp at PalaGarassini, PalaGuzzetti and the Corso Europa school gymnasium from June 29 to July 5. From July 5 to 7, the Loano tennis club run by Asd Tennis and Sport Educativo Zizzini will host the finals of the 2024 edition of the European Summer Cup Under 14 Women's Under 14 for tennis players aged 14 and under. A Men's and Women's Open Singles Tournament will be held from July 16 to 28, also at the tennis club. On July 20 in Orto Maccagli “Kung fu under the stars,” an evening of martial arts and oriental dances organized by Asd Centro Arti Marziali. On July 31 at the jetties in the Bfly area there is an “Aperiyoga” organized by Asd Stella Marina. From Aug. 7 to 15 new tennis event and the classic “Ferragosto Giallone” for amateur couples. From Aug. 16 to 28 new Open Men's and Women's Singles Tennis Tournament. On Saturday, August 17, the 12th edition of the “Marina Classic” running race promoted by Asd RunRivieraRun will be held. On Aug. 22, the ninth edition of Run San Pio will be held. From Aug. 23 to Sept. 1 under-12, under-14 and under-16 men's and women's youth tennis tournament. From Aug. 31 to Sept. 6 at PalaGarassini will be held the ninth edition of “Loano in dance Summer Edition,” the event of Asd Promozione Danza Liguria that was created to offer participating interns and students from the area the opportunity to follow a dance study path with teachers with proven curricula.
There will be no shortage of appointments specially designed for lovers of the music. Like the concerts to be held in the Oratory of Our Lady of the Rosary and organized by the Brotherhood of the Turchin Chapels as part of the “Musical September of the Turchins.” the program schedule includes a concert by the “Don Nicolò Parodi” Choir from Pietra Ligure; a concert by maestro Silvano Rodi, titular organist of the church of Santa Devota in Monaco, and Sofia Borella on percussion; a concert by maestro Tiziana Zunino (in collaboration with Vallinmusica); and a concert by maestro Giorgio Piovano, organist of the Capuchin church in Alassio. This summer will return, as always, the “Concerts of the Prince” and other events promoted by the Santa Maria Immacolata Music Association and also the concerts of the musical group “U Gunbu de Loa-Verzi” in Orto Maccagli (on July 5, August 22 and September 13) or the Polyphonic Choir City of Loano. On July 12 in Rocca Square appointment with Occitan folk dances and songs by the “Bala in riva a u ma” association. On July 16 and 17 and then again on July 19 in Orto Maccagli will be held the “Vocal Care Summer Nights,” a review with live performances by Danila Satragno's “Vocal Care” seminar. On July 18 and 19 the civic library will host the Accademia Ambrosiana summer music campus. On Aug. 8 in Piazza Italia, an evening of 80s revival with ’80 Want of Loano.’ On August 16, again in Piazza Italia, the “Festival Project” will replay Sanremo's greatest hits. On August 23 in Piazza Italia concert of “Stavolta mia moglie mi mandare a funk” by Vecchia Loano. On August 27, again in Piazza Italia, an evening dedicated to dancing with the Bagutti Orchestra.
For those with a sweet tooth, there will be no shortage of food and wine appointments. June 29 and 30 will see the 2024 edition of “Flavors of Liguria,” a food and wine festival organized by the Vecchia Loano association. A selection of Ligurian delicacies such as olive oil, olives, cheeses, cured meats, tomatoes, vegetables, herbs, basil, honey, garlic, products in oil, Ligurian focaccia, wine and typical desserts will be available on the Loano waterfront. The stands will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Great space will be given to festivals, such as the traditional “Summer Muscolata” on July 19 and 20, the “Sagra della Solidarietà” in favor of the Solidarity Bank and the Asd San Francesco soccer school on July 4 and 5, the “Sagra della Trenetta” from July 31 to Aug. 2, and the “Quellu cu passa u cunventu” festival from Aug. 28 to 30. Also among the traditional events are the “Sagra di San Pio X” and related running race, the “Sagra dell'Otto” and the “Sagra di Santa Libera” in Verzi. Finally, from Sept. 5 to 8, the first edition of the ’Wine&Food Italian Tasting“ dedicated to Italian food and wine excellence will be held (organized by Fipe/Confcommercio).
In the Loano summer, there will be no shortage of appointments for the purpose of social. On June 27 at Bagni Lampara and July 27 at Bagni Delfino “Floating and Bubbling” returns with fundraising for the implementation of the Hephaestus project. On July 20 on the waterfront appointment with “Dive to Donate,” the extraordinary blood collection on mobile bloodmobile by Avis provincial and Avis Loano. On July 20 and 21 in Marina di Loano is “Diversamente vela,” an art competition for disabled and able-bodied artists by Ghirardi Foundation. On Sept. 7 in Marina di Loano is back “A sail for the woman,” the project that offers women victims of violence, in contact with anti-violence centers and sheltered houses, the opportunity to spend a day sailing free of charge and reserved so they can experience a moment of well-being and recreation.
Loano's summer is always marked by the celebration of local traditions and cults. Such as the patronal feast of St. John the Baptist on June 24, the feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary by the White Disciplinants from Sept. 3 to 12, the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, patron saint of Verzi, on Sept. 8, and the feast of St. Libera in Verzi on Sept. 15.
