PRESS RELEASE (24/1/2014)

Saturday January 25, a Loano, to the 9 p.m., in the Loanese Theater, will stage the show “The unforgettable August do 1925” with the Compagnia Teatrale Genovese G. Govi.

The play is included, out of subscription, in the theater season, promoted by the’Department of Tourism and Culture of the City of Loano and organized by the Garage Theater, as part of the theatrical promotion circuit The Riviera of Theaters - Province of Savona.

Represented by Gilberto Govi first premiered in 1937, Umberto Morucchio's three-act play, like all classics, retains its comedy even nearly a century later. La Compagnia Teatrale Genovese G. Govi first revived it in ’78 by setting it, for convenience, in the 1950s, and so he reintroduces it in this umpteenth edition.

Explain Peter Campodonico, who adapted the play, “the jokes most vivid in the memory of the audience. “Today to you, tomorrow ... to another.” and the celebrated “A salute sensa e palanche a l'è zà ‘na meza malattia” surround the tale of the famous rescue on Lake Como, resulting in an authentically anthology piece.

The protagonist of the story is the good Tavazza, Lucky in name, but utterly unfortunate in fact, oppressed as he is by his wife, daughter, mother-in-law and even his dog. But here comes a sensational inheritance, left to him by such a Mrs. Adelaide Smorga in memory of “That unforgettable August of 1925,” and this is the only play in which the great Govi reserves a role for himself ... mischievous. But in the interest of the family, mind you!
