Irene Grandi

After playing in several groups, she began working as a soloist together with Telonio. With her first author she recorded “Un motivo maledetto,” which attracted the attention of Dado Parisini, Raf's producer at the time, and CGD, which offered her a recording contract .

In 1994 is at the Festival, in the Youth category, with “Fuori.” Irene begins to collaborate with important authors: Eros Ramazzotti and Jovanotti write songs for her debut album “Irene Grandi”.
In 1995 comes On vacation for a lifetime: Irene confirms her success with “Bum Bum” and the titletrack, which become among the most played songs on radio at that time. In the same year she appears in Pino Daniele's “Non calpestare i fiori nel deserto,” duetting on “Se mi vuoi” : the collaboration works so well that it also becomes a two-person tour.
In 1996 she debuted as an actress together with Diego Abatantuono in Giovanni Veronesi's “Il barbiere di Rio,” for which she also sang “Fai come me,” the title track of the soundtrack. This will not be Irene's only extra-musical experimentation: in 2004, she will get back into the game in front of the cameras, to host Festivalbar.

In 1997 Irene returns to music with third album Fortunately, unfortunately”: is a definite step forward artistically, with musical experimentation combining with melodies such as that of “What a Life It Is,” a single topping radio airplay for more than a month.

In 1999 comes out Green Red and Blue, fourth album followed by a return to San Remo in the 2000, obviously among the Bigs. Writing for Irene the song for the Festival are none other than Vasco Rossi and Gaetano Curreri: “La tua ragazza sempre” ranks second; the song, included in the re-release of “Verde Rosso e Blu,” allows the record to return to the top of the sales charts. Irene turned to rock but continued to demonstrate her versatility with prestigious performances, such as at Pavarotti & Friends and the Montreux Jazz Festival.

In 2001 greatest hits comes out Irek, which takes stock of the first part of Irene's career, looking ahead with the two unreleased songs “Per fare l'amore” and “Sconvolto così.” The same year she enchanted a hundred thousand people at the Heineken Jammin’ Festival in Imola, opening for her friend Vasco.

It continues, in the 2003, the collaboration with Vasco and Gaetano Curreri: the two signed “Prima di partire per un lungo viaggio,” and the production of two other songs from the fifth album “Before leaving, “Happy Birthday” and “I Want a Lullaby.” The album is taken on tour during the summer, debuting on July 5 at the San Siro Stadium in Milan, again as a special guest of Vasco.

The 2006 is the year of the break, dedicated to world travel on behalf of humanitarian associations, to which Irene lends a concrete hand. During a trip to Africa she meets Yossoun N'Dour: together also with Patti Smith and Francesco Renga she records his “Birima.”.

After the good experience as the host of Festivalbar in the 2004, Irene confirms in the 2005 his rock vein matured over years of concerts: sixth album released Indelible”. “Let Her Go,” the single, is presented live at the May Day concert.

The return to music comes with a reinterpretation of Battisti's “Uno in più” for the tribute album “Innocenti evasioni.” The rediscovery of Italian song continues in the double album irenegrandi.hits of 2007; is much more than a collection: there are reinterpretations of songs brought to success by Mina (“Sono come tu mi vuoi”) and Bruno Martino (“Estate”), acoustic versions of her historical songs, a collaboration with jazz pianist Stefano Bollani. But above all, an author from the new Italian rock scene appears on the record: Francesco Bianconi of Baustelle, who writes “Burn the City” for her. The song was rejected at the selections for the Sanremo Festival, but it became the song of the summer and won the 2007 Radio Award of the last edition of Festivalbar, adding another trophy to a successful career.
After a tour that sees her starring, for the first time, in major Italian theaters, and after the release of the biography “Diario di una cattiva ragazza” - written together with Massimo Cotto for Mondadori - November 28, 2008 goes out “Songs for Christmas”. Irene brings the international tradition of Christmas records to Italy: on the album she alternates between rereading themed classics and other lesser-known and more humorous “seasonal” songs, singing in Italian and English.

June 21 2009 Irene participates in the benefit concert at San Siro “Amiche per l'Abruzzo,” duetting on her own songs, songs by her colleagues and international classics (“Blowing in the wind” by Bob Dylan) and Italian ones (“Il mio canto libero” by Battisti-Mogol). A few months later she duets with Claudio Baglioni on “Una faccia pulita,” a reworking of the historic song from “Questo piccolo grande amore,” included in the new version “Q.P.G.A.”
In 2010 Irene returns to Sanremo after 10 years. She brings a song, “La cometa di Halley,” written by Francesco Bianconi, thus reviving that successful collaboration already undertaken with “Bruci la città” . The song anticipates the new album, At the gates of the dream, the first of unreleased songs in almost 5 years. Irene is now artistic co-producer together with Pio Stefanini, and coauthor of almost all the songs. The album closes with another collaboration, this time with Irene's “historical” author Gaetano Curreri, who writes “Stai fermo”.{:}
