SECOND TO NONE RIDPRESS RELEASE (24/07/2013)

Thursday, July 25, a Loano, will continue the journey of discovery of folk music through meetings with artists, journalists and cultural workers, guests of the City of Loano National Award for Italian Traditional Music.

The afternoon will be devoted to the Sardinia with the presentation of the’Encyclopedia of Sardinian Music, which will be entrusted to Marco Lutzu curator, along with Francesco Casu, of the entire work, consisting of sixteen volumes and as many DVDs. The musicians Gilberto Cominu and Bruno Loi will accompany the journey into Sardinian folk culture with their musical instruments. Leading the meeting, at 6:30 pm, in the Nassiriya Gardens, will be the journalist Cyrus De Rosa.

At 21.30, the festival will move to fortress square, where the dance party. The evening will provide an important opportunity for discussion between the Sardinian music and culture, played by the duo Gilberto Cominu and Bruno Loi, and the Romagna dance music of Secondo Casadei, reinterpreted by the group Second to None.

The first part of the evening, dedicated to the repertoire of sardinian dances, will feature participants in the internship that took place in recent days. Dances from the geographical area of Campidano di Oristano and Marmilla will be performed in particular: Ballu Sardu Campidanesu (typical Campidano dance), Sa Dantza (in the typical variant of Villaurbana), Ballu Sardu Biddobraesu (typical Campidanese dance with the peculiarities of Villaurbana), Ballu Tundu or Ballittu (national Sardinian dance par excellence, the only dance in which all Sardinians from any geographic area come together to dance), Passu'e trese (danced in Barigadu and the Middle Tirso Valley), Dillu o Dillaru o Ballu Tzoppu.

In the second part of the evening, the project to restore and enhance the emiliano-romagnola dance music, of the smooth as it is commonly called, edited by Andrea Bonacini e Claudio Carboni. Together they decided to lay their hands on the musical literature of the man who is called the prince creator of the ballroom dancing phenomenon, which has rightfully become part of Italian tradition and custom: According to Casadei, founding father of the orchestra of the same name. Along with Carboni and Bonacin will play. Maurizio Geri, companion in Banditaliana with Riccardo Tesi, and Michele Marini, a very young clarinetist of certain future.

The festival, which features the direction music journalist's artistic John Vignola, is organized by the’Society of the Curious Association in collaboration with the’Department of Tourism and Culture of the City of Loano, with contributions from the Liguria Region, A.
