Friday, July 19, a Loano, will kick off the dance review in the’Prince's Garden Summer Arena, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano e organized by the I.So THeatre with the artistic direction of Luca Malvicini.
Ad inaugurate the review will be the Ballet of Liguria who will present to the 9:30 pm, “Cotton Club. The show signed by Charles Tower is a danced journey through the history of jazz in the 1950s, when black singers were often relegated to small venues, small clubs, away from the big scenes and the general public, just because of the color of their skin.
In the 1950s it was an honor to be able to sing at Mocambo in Hollywood, a venue frequented by the likes of Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Lana Turner.
Frank Sinatra made his solo debut at the popular nightclub, while Ella Fitzgerald was barred from entering the exclusive club solely because of racial discrimination, and it was only through the intercession of Marilyn Monroe, the greatest jazz singer of all time, that she was able to make a name for herself and begin her luminous career.
The dancers through their delicate features, technique and expressiveness will bring those magical years back to life, staging the life of jazz clubs: the moments of great vitality and the most intimate and exciting moments.
The nostalgic settings that are evoked captivate the viewer who is swept away by the striking music and choreography.
The tense muscles of the dancers with the splendid aerial holds, will intertwine with great jazz music conveying the emotions that are proper and unique to what is live performance.
The evening is at FREE ADMISSION.
The review will continue on August 10 with the new work of the Ariston Pro Ballet Company “From Darkness to Light” with choreography by Marcello Algeri.
The August 20 the Almatanz Company will present “Bolero - Whiteness and Passion.”, which will star the dancer Grace Galante, étoile of Maurice Béjart.
