Protagonist of the productions will be the Italian Philharmonic Orchestra.

L’Return to the Opera Association will present the August 9 La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini with musical direction and piano accompaniment by Maestro Bill Doherty.

The July 4 the opera season will be opened at 9:30 pm with The Troubadour” is one of the three great operas (along with Rigoletto and La Traviata) with which Giuseppe Verdi reached full artistic maturity and was recognized as the greatest Italian composer of the 19th century. The story takes place in Biscay and Aragon at the beginning of the 15th century and tells tales of power and suffering. It is inspired by El Trovador, by the Spanish writer Antonio Garcìa-Gutiérrez, a Romantic-inspired drama, performed in Madrid in 1836, which had been a great success and had impressed audiences especially for the power and originality of its plot and characters. Verdi himself loved these qualities and made arrangements with Cammarano for a libretto inspired by that subject. Once free of commitments for Rigoletto, therefore, he began to think about the opera that would be titled Il Trovatore. Unfortunately, in July 1852 Cammarano's death occurred. The libretto was completed by the Neapolitan poet Leone Emanuele Bardare. In November 1852 the composition of the music was completed, and the opera was presented at the Apollo in Rome on January 19, 1853. It was an unprecedented success for Verdi. Audiences were enthusiastic and Il Trovatore was called a masterpiece.

The opera will be performed by Milo Buson (The Moon Count), Gianna Queni (Leonora), Leon Viola (Manrico), Candida Spineli (Azucena), Stefano Maneddu (Ferrando), Lucia Eusebi (Ines). Directing the performance of the opera will be the Master Alessandro Arigoni.
