PRESS RELEASE (2/7/2013)
Wednesday, July 3, a Loano, will kick off Family-friendly Loano, promoted by the’Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports and curated by the Cooperative I.SO. Theatre.
The children's theater festival will be opened by the show Vanjuska Moj with the Nando and Maila Company, which will be staged at ore 9:30 p.m., in the Prince's Garden Summer Arena.
Vanjuska Moj is a show in which great musical eclecticism is complemented by aerial acrobatics with trapeze and fabrics, highly original juggling, and gags, improvisations and comedy that give the work an extremely fresh and effective edge.
Mascherpa, an improbable and vaguely “waffling” presenter-impresario, introduces the self-styled Russian artist Maila Zirovna: this one holds the part until she erupts impetuously giving life to a very rich gallery of music, each with its characteristic instruments, melodies, and gags.
The number of instruments to which Nando and Maila take turns throughout the show is incredible: violin, trumpet, accordions, ciaramella, balalaika, tambourines and percussion of all kinds, as well as prodigious use of voices.
Even the poles of the self-supporting structure from which the aerial tools are hung are transformed into real musical instruments such as double bass and drums that with the electronics of a sampler give rise to amazing musical acrobatics. But just as amazing is that the whole thing is performed simultaneously with juggling numbers in which clubs, balls, tambourines, chairs and unicycles twirl and interlock perfectly with music and songs from every genre, every time and every place.
Vanjuska Moj is an engaging, poetic and refined performance in which the audience is called to direct and entertained musical participation.
