PRESS RELEASE (06/28/2013)

Saturday, June 29 will begin the competitions of the four qualifying rounds of Europa Cup 2013 by Tennis for Under-14 Women's Nationals.

Thirty-two National Teams will take the field in RAKOVNIK (CZE), ST. VALERIE EN CAUX (FRA), PARMA (ITA), IZMIR (TUR), to gain access to the final which will take place, in Loano, July 5 to 7, reserved for the top two finishers in each Group.

The final stage of the prestigious sports event, valid for the designation of European Zone teams to play the World Youth Championship, has been assigned, for the 6th year, at Tennis Club Loano, which will organize the event in collaboration with the’Sports Department of the City of Loano, Tennis Europe Association and Federtennis.

The European Federation has released the official lineups with the individual European “ranking” of female players, from which the possible participants in the Final Phase of Loano can be assumed, while taking into account that at the level Under 14 progress and leaps in quality are evolving abruptly (an example is that of 2012, when Germany, with relatively low-ranked players, not credited as seeded, first, won their qualifying round and then, in the Loano Final Phase, played the very final with Great Britain).

Based on the individual rankings then, the possible finalists could be:

  • From ZONE “A” of Rakovnik: CZECH REPUBLIC, SPAIN and SERBIA.
  • From ZONE ”B” of St. Valerie en Caux: ROMANIA, CROATIA, BELARUS, with possible outsider FRANCE, playing at home.
  • From ZONE “D” of Izmir: RUSSIA, which fields three of Europe's top players, UKRAINE and GERMANY.
  • Let's leave ZONE “C,” that of Parma, in which ITALY plays, where the favorites are: GREAT BRITAIN, SWITZERLAND and ITALY, which relies on listed Arianna CAPOGROSSO and the support of Italian fans.

Everyone hopes that the Italian National Team manages to qualify for the Final Round of Loano.

This goal has not been achieved since 2010, when Deborah CHIESA, who today, with good prospects, is attempting her climb to professional tennis and gravitates to Tennis Club Loano, coached by coach Marco BOESSO, who just at T.C. Loano is currently in charge of the Technical-Agonistic sector.

At the Loano Tennis Club, the organizational phase is almost over, with organizers awaiting the outcome of the qualifiers and ready to welcome the teams to the Hotel Excelsior and Hotel Londra, the event's official hotels, with their usual hospitality, friendliness and efficiency.
