{:en}The Blue Flag, the international recognition that Fee bestows on coastal resorts that meet certain criteria from the standpoint of water quality and services offered, is flying on the beaches of Loano again this year.

The Blue Flag was established in 1987, the European Year for the Environment. It is awarded annually in 48 countries around the world that meet criteria related to sustainable land management. The campaign is overseen in the various countries by the Fee, Foundation for Environmental Education. The parameters on the basis of which the Blue Flag is awarded are many: bathing water quality, wastewater purification, environmental certification, waste management, accessibility at beaches, environmental education and communication, and sustainability initiatives.

This morning, Mayor Luigi Pignocca traveled to Rome to collect the banner: “For the tenth consecutive year, the beaches of Loano are confirmed among the best in Europe,” explained the first citizen of Loano. ”The Fee has once again rewarded the quality of our marine waters and the excellence of the services offered by our bathing establishments. Having once again obtained the Blue Flag certifies for the umpteenth time the goodness of the initiatives that our administration has put in place to improve the impact that human activities have on the marine environment and the awareness campaigns aimed at residents and tourists. The Blue Flag is an internationally known award," the mayor of Loano adds further, "This means that any tourist coming on vacation to Loano, whether compatriot or foreigner, will immediately know that our coastline offers quality bathing levels and the establishments first-rate services. I want to thank the technical office and the environment office for their excellent work in preparing the documentation and applications." ".

Not only Loano's beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag: in fact, for the seventh year, Marina di Loano has also received the Fee's recognition for tourist landings.

As for ports, the Blue Flag is awarded annually based on several criteria: the waters of the harbor and those bordering the harbor must be visually unpolluted; sewers do not spill into the harbor; there are facilities for collecting oil, paint and chemical residues; life preservers and first-aid equipment are provided; environmental and Blue Flag campaign information provided by management is available; there is provision for disposal of bilge water and boat toilets; arrangements for disposal of shipyard processing residues are covered; lights and drinking water are available on the docks.

Marina di Loano is endowed with these and other features and therefore, as has happened seven times since 2012, this year the marina resort was awarded the Blue Flag for marinas. “Over the years,’ Pignocca further notes, ‘Marina di Loano has won numerous awards. It has been listed as one of the ten most beautiful marinas in the world by the magazine ’Yachting Pages,‘ obtained from Rina the MaRINA Excellence 24 Plus certification, the ’5 Rudders’ and ’50 Gold‘ for the quality of infrastructure and services to boaters. In the environmental field it obtained, first in Italy, RINA's ’Green” certification for environmental sustainability. Now here is the seventh the Blue Flag, which confirms that our marina resort is not only a world-class port hub, but also that it places the protection and preservation of the marine environment among its daily priorities."{:}{:en}Also this year the Blue Flag is waving on the beaches of Loano, the international recognition that Fee (Foundation for Environmental Education) gives to coastal resorts that meet certain criteria from the point of view of the quality of the waters and the services offered.
