{:en}The long summer of Loano events got off to a roaring start, to say the least. Last night more than 40,000 people participated in the “Night in White,” the long marathon of entertainment promoted by the Loano Tourism, Culture and Sports Department of the City Council in cooperation with Ascom and Dimensione Eventi.

The big party with which Loano has been greeting the beginning of summer for ten years enlivened the entire historic center and the waterfront. Businesses and public establishments offered until late at night interesting shopping opportunities, good food and a wealth of musical entertainment with over twenty music stations where rock and folk groups, cover bands, emerging artists, DJ sets and jazz singers found space and performed.

The highlight of the evening was the big free concert with Stadio in Italy Square. Gaetano Curreri's band performed all its biggest hits, from “Canzoni alla Radio,” “Acqua e Sapone,” via “Sorprendimi,” “Ask Who the Beatles Were,” “Ballando al buio,” “Generazione di Fenomeni,” to the most recent ones, including the winning song of the 2016 Sanremo Festival, “Un giorno Mi Dirai,” and “Tutti contro Tutti,” which boasts the extraordinary incursion of Vasco Rossi.

Before the concert, Mayor Luigi Pignocca and Environment Councillor Manuela Zunino presented Loano's Bagni Marini Syndicate president Diego Burastero with the Blue Flag, the international recognition that Fee bestows on coastal resorts that meet certain criteria from the standpoint of water quality and services offered, and which Loano obtained this year for the ninth time in a row.

“It was a pleasure to see our town peacefully ’invaded‘ by so many people,’ explain Mayor Luigi Pignocca and Tourism Councillor Remo Zaccaria, ‘Our White Night was again a great success with the public this year, offering a preview of the great season of events that awaits us this summer. The very rich calendar of events at the ’Loano tourist village” will ensure many moments of entertainment for all tastes and audiences, from young people to families.".

A success that, as remarked by Mayor Pignocca and Councillor Zaccaria, would not have been possible without the commitment of the many people who worked behind the scenes to ensure the success of the “Notte in Bianco” and above all the safety of the participants: “The organization of an event of this magnitude requires a major effort on the part of the entire city, but this year, too, everything worked perfectly. For this, on behalf of the entire city administration we extend a huge thank you to the Prefect and the Questore who provided state police officers and carabinieri, to Ascom, Dimensione Eventi, the councilor in charge of civil protection Luana Isella, the commander of the municipal police Gianluigi Soro and all the officers, the managers Aldo Caballini, Luigi Vallarino and Marta Gargiulo, the head of the Ced Emanuele Campisi, the coordinator of the inter-municipal civil protection group Antonio Mattiauda and the workers on duty.”.

Add Pignocca and Zaccaria: “The great success of the public that our events regularly obtain is not only the result of the excellent work done by the offices and the various entities that contribute to the organization, but it is also and above all the result of the efforts made by the associations, groups and volunteers who work in our area and who make up the most important part of the Loano community. So thank you to the Amateur Radio Association, the Red Cross, the Toirano-Boissano-Loano Intermunicipal Civil Defense Group, the Alpine Group, the National Carabinieri Association and the police forces. And thanks also to the operators of the Stirano Company, whose work managed to return us a perfectly cleaned up Loano after the festival.”{:}
