{:en}Four public meetings to inform residents and tourists about basic self-protection rules to put in place in case of emergency. These are the ones organized by the inter-municipal civil protection group of Toirano, Boissano and Loano and to be held in the territory of the coastal town over the next four weeks.
“When working in civil protection,’ explain the group, ”there are two key words: communication and information. The new civil protection code approved earlier this year says so, but above all, the facts say so. Informed people know how to face and overcome emergencies. It is precisely for this reason that, after the public meetings with citizens, after the lectures held in the elementary school of the three municipalities, we have decided to organize a series of public meetings at which civil defense administrators and volunteers will make themselves available to citizens to provide them with the most important notions to overcome any emergencies in which they may find themselves.".
The gazebos will be placed at locations where the risk of flooding is greatest in case of a weather alert. They will begin on Friday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to noon in Valerga Square (at the corner with Gazzi Street) and then continue on Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. to noon in Largo Ponte Romano Street (in front of the Delbalzo supermarket, on the border with Borghetto Santo Spirito); Saturday, July 7 from 10 a.m. to noon in Tito Minniti Avenue (near Bar Nelson); and Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Conad square in Verzi.
“We decided to start from Loano and take advantage of the summer resort and the presence of many tourists to reach as many people as possible. Later we will move to Boissano and Toirano. Dates for the Boissano and Toirano gazebos will be announced by fall.”.
During the meetings, communication issues will be addressed above all: “We will invite citizens who have not yet done so to download the ‘ComuniCare’ App, which allows them to keep up-to-date with weather alert developments. In addition, we will provide useful telephone numbers in case of emergency and expose, through an information leaflet, the basic self-protection rules in case of emergency. We invite not only our fellow residents to participate, but also the many tourists who are staying in our territory during this period.”.
Administrators, civil defense volunteers from the associated group, volunteers from Loano's Ari group, and the Loano section's Alpini will participate in the gazebos.{:}
