A World in Pink

A week-long celebration dedicated to women, well-being, and solidarity

Since 2014, Loano has been turning pink to bring to life one of the summer’s most significant and exciting social, cultural, and sporting events.

Universe in Pink It is a large-scale, widespread event created with the goal of:

  • Raise community awareness about combating gender-based violence.

  • Actively support the “Artemisia Gentileschi” Anti-Violence Center”.

Today, the event is a real “Pink Week” (preceded by the free events organized by “Waiting for ”Universo in Rosa’”) that celebrates all aspects of women’s lives, highlighting the talents of local women and promoting mental and physical well-being and social interaction through art, culture, music, and sports.

Local Initiatives

During the week, the streets and shops of Loano are transformed into an open-air museum thanks to wonderful local collaborations:

  • Traveling Exhibitions: Meaningful handcrafted works, made by hand by the guests of the Ramella Assisted Living Facility.

  • “You’re Not Alone” – Bags Collection: A collection of handbags inspired by reflections on the role and independence of women, designed by fashion students at the’Falcone Institute.

  • Exhibition on November 25: the famous exhibition related to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women It moves from one business to another.

  • The Path of Kindness & Info Point: meetings and information sessions with mental health professionals and the Italian Society for Health Promotion (SIPS).

  • Self-defense workshop: hands-on sessions focused on awareness and personal safety techniques.

The symbol: the pink butterfly

In ancient Greece, “Psychè” It meant both “soul” and “butterfly.”.

The metamorphosis of this magnificent insect represents the A journey of evolution, rebirth, and freedom of women who choose to take care of themselves and say "enough" to violence.
