{"id":4008,"date":"2014-09-21T17:03:27","date_gmt":"2014-09-21T15:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.visitloano.it\/?p=4008"},"modified":"2014-09-21T17:03:27","modified_gmt":"2014-09-21T15:03:27","slug":"8-tour-of-the-walls-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.visitloano.it\/en\/4008\/news\/8-giro-delle-mura-risultati\/","title":{"rendered":"8TH TOUR OF THE WALLS - RESULTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PRESS RELEASE (09\/21\/2014) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Absolute record number of participants for the\u2019<strong>eighth <\/strong>edition of the <strong>Tour of the Walls <strong>- Paolo Romanisio Memorial<\/strong><\/strong>, competitive running race organized by the <strong>Runners Sports Society Loano <\/strong>with contributions from the\u2019<strong>Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Loano race was crowned with a successful participation: <strong>450 athletes<\/strong> gathered at Loano to run this edition. Also a success was the kid run that saw the participation of <strong>51 children<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In the men's race, the selection took place around the 4 km mark where <strong>Corrado Mortillaro<\/strong> (Atletica Palzola ) produced a stretch, bringing behind only <strong>Emanuele Repetto<\/strong> (Cambiaso Risso Running Team Genova ) who held it as long as he could but then had to give in. Good performance by <strong>Khelifi Mehdi<\/strong> (Amatori Atletica Acquaviva ) who managed to find the winning sprint in the final to win the third position on the podium. Excellent time of the winner ( 31\u201937\u201d) very close to the record of the race held by <strong>Valerio Brignone<\/strong> .<\/p>\n<p>In the women's field, the prediction seemed to be a foregone conclusion being at the start the Genoese <strong>Emma Quail<\/strong>, national marathon team member and veteran of the team gold medal in the recent European championships in Zurich, however even though Quaglia (Cus Genova) won with a time of 35\u201929\u201d she had to struggle to hold off her teammate <strong>Laura Papagna<\/strong>, runner-up with an excellent 36\u201911\u201d and Moroccan athlete <strong>Khadija Arafi<\/strong> (Genoa City Group) with 36\u201934\u201d. In fourth place was the Italian marathon champion. <strong>Claudia Jasmine<\/strong> (Atletica Palzola ) with a time of 37\u201901\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Also beautiful was the race of the youngest, the kid run, around the walls of Loano for a total of one kilometer.
