At the center of the event are his iconic figures, an integral part of the Italian mask registry and co-founders of the National Coordination Center of Italian Masks:
- Beciancin: the official mask, a goliardic symbol of the early 1900s.
- Puè Pepin: the King of Loano Carnival since 1950.
- Captain Fracassa: Ligurian mask of the Commedia dell'Arte.
- Princess Doria of the Castle.
These figures, along with many other guest masks from regions such as Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia, enliven the awaited “handing over the keys” ceremony” of the city, officially ushering in the carnival period.
