Great expectations at Loano, for Air Show 2016, which Sunday, May 15, will bring the world's most admired aerobatic team back to western Savona for their only date in Liguria in 2016.
Once again, you can admire spectacular maneuvers and acrobatics with the thrilling closing performance of the National Aerobatic Patrol (PAN): the Frecce Tricolori of the Italian Air Force.
The event, organized by the’Aero Club Savona and the Ligurian Riviera, from the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano in collaboration with the Coast Guard Loano, will see the full lineup of all participants on the’Clemente Panero International Airport of Villanova d'Albenga. The director of the event and established creator of this event is the Gen. Caesar Patrono.
As early as Saturday 14 afternoon, from the 3:30 pm, planes will be heard roaring overhead, coming to the Lovran coastline for the performance rehearsals, offering a glimpse of the exciting and choreographed show.
Also on Saturday afternoon, “waiting for the Frecce Tricolori, at 4:30 p.m., in Fortress Square the musical event entitled “Festival Project”The concert will retrace the most significant moments of the Sanremo Festival. In addition to some of the winning songs from the singing competition, songs that are still dear to the hearts of the Sanremo Festival audience will also be performed. Interpreting these Italian classics will be Angela Vicidomini, an eclectic singer whose repertoire ranges from opera to Neapolitan classics, from jazz standards to pop. The artist will be accompanied by musicians Alessio Briano (keyboards and backing vocals), Andrea Balestrieri (drums), Artan Selishta (guitar), and Max Matis (bass).
Sunday morning, from the 8.30 at 12.30, Open Day at the Villanova di Albenga airport, where the hangar for the second year will feature the military aircraft flight simulator F16. In addition, visitors will be able to admire a static display of the aircraft participating in the event.
It will get into the thick of the show on Sunday afternoon starting from the 3 p.m.
The performances will begin with a flypast by numerous aircraft from the Aero Club Savona fleet.
The first to take flight will be a PA32, led by the pilot Antonello Russo, and right behind it will be the PA 28 with on board John Accame pilot and Advisor to the Savona Aero Club. This will be followed by a PS 28 Cruiser, the new standard for training and tourism, piloted by Claudio Fogliato. Next up will be a VL 3, a low-wing ultralight aircraft that will be piloted by Maurizio Colombo, VDS Pilot Advisor to the Savona Aero Club.
You can then admire the historic L4 aircraft piloted by Gustavo Cappa Bava. The light single-engine aircraft had been assigned in 1945 to the Army Ground Forces operating in Italy.
Next, the program will include a demonstration of a sea rescue of the 15th SAR Wing with the helicopter HH-139.
Emiliano Del Buono will fly over the sky of Loano with a C3605,Target towing aircraft used by the Swiss Armed Forces in the 1970s and 1980s.
Very welcome to the little ones will be the passage of the’Aerogallo, original and colorful rooster-shaped aircraft, piloted by Daniel Beltrame, while the Sea Max, an ultralight amphibious aircraft, will give demonstrations of landing and takeoff (Saurin/Bertoncino).
The pilot Gustavo Cappa Bava will return to perform with a biplane, an elegant Tiger Moth that has been perfectly restored.
Spectacular stunts will be given by the T30, a single-seater designed specifically for sport aerobatics, to date, in its category, the only fully Italian operational aerobatic aircraft. Piloting it will be Maurizio Pizzamiglio an aeronautical engineer, who earned his aerobatics qualification in the early 1990s. He trained with multiple aerobatic champion Sergio Dallan and competes in the advanced category under the supervision of world champion Patrick Paris.
Then it will be the turn of the well-known Blue Voltige dance troupe. Fabio Iannacone e Ivan Prizzon They will use two vintage Fournier RF4 and RF5 motor gliders, designed in the early 1960s with very sleek and aerodynamic lines. The two motor gliders, designed by Frenchman Renè Fournier and built in Germany by Sportavia Putzer, are propeller aircraft equipped with 4-cylinder engines derived from automobiles.
The pilot Guido Racioppoli, with two thousand hours of flight time, including 1,200 hours of aerobatics, will fly over the rooftops of Loano with the Zlin 50 LA, a Czechoslovakian plane that moves elegantly and has won the World Aerobatics Championships unlimited category seven times since its debut.
Gustavo Saurin will take flight from Loano with the amphibious ultralight aircraft Sea Max. Immediately afterwards, there will be new acrobatic performances with the’Extra 300 by Del Buono of the team 46 Aviation and Blu Circe, a team composed of ultralight aircraft (A345, A349, A738, A416) piloted by prominent figures such as Francesco Martone, Gianfranco Siotto, Bruno Servadei, and Tommaso Raponi. The CITIUS two-seat sport aircraft piloted by Maurizio Colombo will close the performances of the Savona Aero Club.
The highlight of the event will be entrusted to the performance of the Tricolour Arrows (PAN) who will keep spectators breathless and nose to the sky with their evolutions. The performance of the Italian Acrobatic Patrol will close with a tribute to the great tenor, Luciano Pavarotti.

It is recommended to use public transportation.
On Sunday, May 15, during the event, traffic at Loano will undergo the following changes:
- From 9:00 a.m. until the end of the event, traffic will be prohibited and parking will be forbidden on Viale Libia, Campo Cadorna, and Corso Roma, except for medical emergency vehicles, emergency vehicles, official vehicles, and vehicles belonging to residents with private parking available.;
- From 9:00 a.m. until the end of the event, parking will be prohibited for all categories of vehicles, except those serving disabled persons with the appropriate permit, on Via Martiri della Libertà between Lungomare Nazario Sauro and Via delle Peschiere.;
- From 9:00 a.m. until the end of the event, all vehicles will be prohibited from traveling on Lungomare Nazario Sauro between the intersection with Via Martiri della Libertà and the entrance to the marina, with the exception of vehicles serving people with disabilities heading to the parking area on Via Martiri della Libertà.;
- From 10:00 a.m. until the end of the event, on Lungomare Marconi, in the section between the “Loano Mare” beach resort and the Via Genova underpass, traffic will be prohibited and parking will be forbidden for all vehicles except motorcycles, mopeds, and bicycles, which must be pushed by hand.;
- From 9:00 a.m. until the end of the event, on Lungomare Madonna del Loreto, between the eastern entrance to the marina and the intersection with Viale Tito Minniti, there will be a one-way system in place in an east/west direction, and parking will be permitted on the sea side of the road.;
- From 9:00 a.m. until the end of the event, buses will be prohibited from traveling on the roads below Via Aurelia, with the exception of Via Trento e Trieste, Via Ramella, Via Europa, Via Cesarea, and Via Stella.;
- From 7:00 a.m. until the end of the event, parking will be prohibited for all categories of vehicles, except for spectator buses, on the sea side of Viale Azzurri d'Italia and in the public parking area on Via delle Ciappe.
