Funds raised at the “Add a place at the table”, promoted by the Municipality of Loano.
Visso, a municipality in the Macerata mountains, was the epicenter of the quake last Oct. 30. The small town suffered extensive damage with collapsed buildings and disrupted roads.
Thanks to the day of food and solidarity, which involved the associations of Loano, the following were raised 17.450,00 euro, who were transferred to the Visso CRI for The purchase of a vehicle for transferring dialyzed patients.
“I am very happy," says Mayor Luigi Pignocca - to be able to represent the Loano community with the many associations that animate it. Thanks to the efforts of more than 100 volunteers and the support of many citizens, we were able to raise an important amount of money to donate to the people of central Italy affected by the earthquake. More than thirty cultural and sports associations have committed themselves to make our city feel the closeness of our city to those who have lost everything. Together with the funds raised, we send Visso the embrace of Loano and an invitation to look forward.”
“The Loano Committee of the Italian Red Cross," says Charles Tironi president of CRI Loano - cooperated with the utmost commitment to the success of the Oct. 30 event to raise funds for earthquake victims. The national CRI has been engaged with thousands of volunteers in the earthquake areas since the day of the first event. In agreement with the municipal administration and the many town associations involved, we decided to help the CRI Committee of a small town that has suffered a lot of damage, aware of the difficulties that the Visso Volunteers are facing to help their fellow citizens despite the fact that they themselves have suffered the consequences of the earthquake.”
The “Add a place at the table” was organized thanks to the cooperation of Thirty cultural and sports associations. The most experienced festival associations organized the cooking, and cultural associations put on a varied and quality entertainment program. Local businesses also contributed. Firms offered the raw materials: CIR, COOP, Alimentari Delbalzo, Rossello Carta, CRAI, Panificio OXILIa, Pasticceria Carrubba, Olio Polla, CONAD Toirano, GIBIN Bevande, Panificio Casto, Gallo and Canale di Finale Ligure.
