PRESS RELEASE (5/07/2016)

Wednesday, July 6, a Loano, Italy Square will be dressed in white for the first edition of the “White Dinner”, organized by a group of volunteers with the sponsorship of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.

This convivial initiative will transform the square in front of the Town Hall into a large open-air dining room for one evening.

The event for anyone who wants to join (reservation required at the telephone number 0196766006 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.), is at 19.00. We will start by setting up our table so that we are ready for dinner, which will begin at 21.00.

Anyone can participate, the only mandatory requirement concerns color: everything must be white. Participants must bring everything they need to set the table from home (plastic plates and cups, paper, and cans are prohibited), including tablecloths and cloth napkins, various accessories, a trash bag, and, of course, the food.

The promoters in Loano were inspired by the philosophy behind the “Unconventional Dinner” format, which guided the organization of the Cena in Bianco (Dinner in White) in Turin: “A huge table, made up of all our tables placed side by side, celebrating Italian dining traditions, sharing, conviviality, and the pleasure of being together. Let's relive the magic of our region with an urban dinner that, through the color white, the most neutral and photographic of colors, will convey images of the many places in our beautiful country online, thanks to our photos... It will be wonderful to set off with tables, plates, and chairs in tow to experience and discover the squares and streets of so many Italian places... And at the end of the evening, everyone will clear the tables and take away all the rubbish: there must be no trace of our passage. There is only one way to keep our cities clean: don't litter.”
