Saturday, April 25, a Loano, the anniversary of the National Liberation Day has special significance, as we also celebrate the 70th anniversary Of the liberation of the city, which took place on April 25, 1945.

The program of the official ceremony will kick off at 9.00 with Holy Mass in the parish of St. John the Baptist. At the end will take place the laying of wreaths at the city's war memorial stones and monuments. At 11:15 a.m., the procession will start from Italy Square (in front of the City Hall) that will reach for a tribute, passing through Doria Street and Boragine Street, the new monument to the Resistance. The procession will then proceed to the War Memorial on the seaside promenade. The Mayor of Loano will speak at the ceremony, Luigi PignoccaNadia Morachioli of the Anpi Provincial Committee of Savona and Laura Sero president of the Lonese section ANPI.

In the Hall Mosaic of Palazzo Doria you can visit the exhibition entitled “1945 - 2015, 70th Anniversary Liberation of Loano”, organized by the Loano section“Renato Boragine”  of the’National Association of Partisans of Italy under the auspices of the Municipality of Loano. The exhibition promoted on the occasion of the70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Loano, brings together photographs, documents, articles, and testimonies on the Resistance lived in the Loano area and its hinterland, the fallen Partisans, episodes of the war (bombings, mines on the beach, etc.), racial laws (original documents from the Loano archives on racial persecution) and measures against Jews at Loano. In the exhibit are original documents and posters from the Liberation, drawings by the third grade students of the Mazzini-Ramella Secondary School. The exhibition will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m.
