PRESS RELEASE (1/04/2015)

The network walks faster at Loano. Starting from Easter, free Wi-Fi on the waterfront will be more expeditious, thanks to the upgrading of the ADSL line and the use of fiber optic infrastructure.

The innovations made to the Wi-Fi system will make it possible to offer better service to more users. The connection will cover the area from the playground next to the Kursaal Palace to the beginning of Mazzini Square (at the height of the Joust).

“The innovations made to the Wi-Fi system," explains the Councillor for State Property and Environment. Ino Tassara - allow us to keep up with the times and especially to improve the image of services offered to tourists. A year ago we installed two Ecoprivate Stations on the promenade equipped with devices for charging cell phones, netbooks, ipads, iphones, digital cameras etc. The facilities, powered through a solar panel, also allow connection to the Internet via wifi, a service that, thanks to the new technologies we have introduced, has been enhanced and expanded.”

“The Municipality of Loano," explains Mayor Luigi Pignocca - after upgrading the infrastructure has joined the “Liguria wifi” circuit and thus joined the FreeItaliaWifi circuit.

The regional circuit aims to cover the Ligurian territory allowing every user to connect from all areas with a single identification code and surf for free from PCs, tablets and smartphones. And not only that, with the same code it will be possible to access Wi-Fi service in all municipalities federated FreeItaliaWifi circuit.

A single password for multiple networks will allow free movement of users. It will be enough to go to the waterfront in the “Hot Spot Liguria WiFi” area, activate your wireless device and launch your Internet browser. Automatically the Liguria WiF authentication page will open where you can register your user name and password. The service will authenticate instantaneously and you will then be able to surf, send and receive email or take advantage of available services. The same credentials can be used in all the Wi-Fi networks of the public administrations that have joined the national circuit.

“The expansion of the Wi-Fi network on the waterfront," says Tourism Councillor Remo Zaccaria - represents a leap forward in technological innovation. We started a few years ago with the installation of Wi-Fi in the Civic Library, and now we are responding to the ever-increasing demand for fast Internet connections with coverage of the area most frequented by tourists and residents. The service will be signaled by specific signage. In addition, an information leaflet in Italian and English will be distributed. Information will also be found on the Municipality's institutional tourism website.”
