PRESS RELEASE (9/9/2014)

From Thursday, Sept. 11, will resume the excursions of “Loano not only sea”, a program curated by the Loano section of the C.A.I.. under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.

After the summer break, free inland trips led by Loano CAI escorts are back. The first destination (Sept. 11) will be. Cereso Peak, which will be reached by an easy hike on the ridges of the mountains behind Loano. Easy trails will be followed from the hamlet of Bergalla di Balestrino to the Sanctuary of the Madonna and then up to the Savoy fort of Poggio Grande (mt 813). Final destination of the hike will be the chapel located on the summit of Pizzo Cereso, high and panoramic over the sea and the Neva Valley below.

“The tours will continue until December. - says the Councillor for Tourism, Culture and Sports.  Remo Zaccaria - Most of the itineraries will be to discover the Loanese and Savona hinterland, although there will be no shortage of excursions in the Imperiese and Genovese areas. In addition, as has become tradition in October there will be a chestnut party at Rifugio Pian delle Bosse and in December a lunch at the refuge with end-of-year greetings. Loano not only sea has won over time a prominent place in the tourist offer of our city, an opportunity to discover the rich natural and architectural heritage of our hinterland. In addition, the walks are an important opportunity for socialization and contribute to good health. That is why they are highly participated in and supported by the municipality.”

“Just past the middle of July, the first part of the Loano not only sea excursions came to an end," explains Beppe Peretti, CAI Loano companion - outings that took the participants, who were always very numerous and interested, to travel the length and breadth of the routes of western Liguria. We have traveled trails and little roads that have taken us from the mountains to the sea, from the coast to the ridges, and beyond. We have on a few occasions trespassed by visiting the Forts of Genoa, the Alps of the Cuneo area (Ligurian Alps), and the Royal Palace of Venaria Reale. Then, this year, a new initiative was added to the usual calendar of excursions: an evening with the songs of the U Gunbu de Löa - Verzi chorale with the simultaneous projection of the images of our trips, in the picturesque setting of the waterfront of Loano. We are confident that the new outings will also attract great interest.”

Guided walks are totally free of charge and can be taken by everyone at any age. Participants in the walks will be found without prior notice on the days indicated in the program, possibly with their own cars at the time indicated. The meeting place, unless otherwise indicated, will be in Valerga Square  (market square). For non-CAI members, personal accident insurance is compulsory, to be taken out by calling Laura Panicucci tel. 019 672366, cell. 349 7854220, if absent Angela Pisoni, cell. 348 7244320, by noon on the day before the excursion.
