“MEMORIAL CENCIN DE FRANCESCO” 2018
The ninth edition of the Ligurian competition will be run on Sunday, March 25. New features include a modified route for the 45- and 60-kilometer races with a climb up Mount Carmo and the possibility of running the two long races in relays. A 20-km trail race and a 14-km non-competitive walk will also be on the program.
Loano, Dec. 6, 2017 - Registration for the IX Maremontana - Cencin De Francesco Memorial, organized by the’A.S.D. Maremontana, under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano. The race sees the partnership renewed again this year with Vibram®, the world's leading company in high-performance rubber soles, which is title sponsor of the event.
For the 2018 edition, which will be held next March 25, are reconfirmed for the mountain race. Three routes, 20 km 986 D+, 45 km 2650 D+ and 60 km 3640 D+, with the novelty of a climb to the summit of Mount Carmo (1389 m a.s.l.) for the two longest competitions and the possibility of running them in relay with passing of the baton at the Giogo di Toirano. Registration will remain open until March 20, 2018.
In addition to the UTMB® (Ultra Trail du Mont-Blanc) and the Cro-Trail, the Vibram Maremontana races of 45 and 60 km From this year are also among the competitions also qualifying for the Lavaredo Ultra Trail.
Already among the entrants in the 2018 edition, women from the Trailrunning Team Vibram will be present in force: at the start the Russian “naturalized” Italian Yulia Baykova and French teammates Audrey Bassac e Juliette Blanchet. A symbolic race for the Vibram athletes, who are the protagonists of the film Duality, a project started just last year at Loano.
Vibram Maremontana is not just about trails. Enthusiasts of fitwalking and nordic walking will be able to try their hand at a non-competitive walk of 14 km and 508 D+, to be walked at a leisurely pace on hilly and scenic roads and trails. It will be possible to register for the walk up to an hour before the start.
Vibram Maremontana is again this year joining the Short Circuit Solidarity organized by I Run for Find The Cure to which part of the income from registrations will be allocated. In addition, Vibram Maremontana 2018 will support a CAI Loano project to expand the Pian delle Bosse Shelter.
The event is organized with the collaboration of the partner associations Dances With Boars, CAI Loano, Friends of Carmo, Nonprofit Committee Find The Cure and the valuable support of numerous volunteers and other associations in the area.

A.S.D. MAREMONTANA
The amateur sports association Maremontana affiliated with UISP, was founded on October 27, 2014 with the intent to promote and develop sports activities in the area, such as Fit Walking, Nordic Walking, Trail Running, Vertikal and Climbing. The association is a partner in the Loano Outdoor project.
