Saturday, November 25, a Loano, to the 4 p.m., at Council Chamber in Doria Palace a conference entitled “HIV is not defeated.”, organized by the’UNITRE of Loano under the auspices of the Municipality of Loano.

Delving into the topic will be Dr. Valentina Bartolacci medical executive, at the MIOS outpatient clinic of the S. M. di Misericordia Hospital in Albenga.

“After the introduction of new and effective therapies for the treatment of HIV infection,“ the organizers explain, "the media, following a well-known axiom of the journalistic field that "good news” is equivalent to “no news” have unfortunately ceased to take an interest in the problem. Yet HIV continues to claim victims and its spread has experienced a new and worrying increase in recent years, and Liguria continues to be one of the regions where the infection is most prevalent.

But can HIV be fought? And can it be prevented? We will try to answer these and other questions with the help of Dr. Valentina Bartolacci, a virologist at Albenga Hospital.”

Valentina Bartolacci, born in Recanati in 1958 earned her medical degree and subsequent specialization in Internal Medicine at the University of Ancona. She came into contact with issues related to the transmission of tropical diseases during her stay in Zaire (now Democratic Rep. of Congo) from 1987 to 1990. In Liguria since 1993, he has worked as medical director at the MIOS outpatient clinic of the S. M. di Misericordia Hospital in Albenga.
