Lights, sounds and tastes a Loano to greet the arrival of the Christmas and to welcome the new year. L’artistic lighting will festively dress the city, the marketplace Magic Christmas Village will offer a festive atmosphere in a fairy-tale setting, and the program of events “Christmas Enchantments”, promoted by the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano, will enliven the holiday season with concerts, family initiatives, book presentations, nativity scenes e sports appointments. There will be no shortage of the traditional winter sea dive and the spectacular fireworks.

The highlight of the events will be the New Year's Eve in the Square, a great end-of-year show in the company of the ZOO of 105. Live music and DJ set with the Supernovanta and with the participation of Paolo Noise, Pippo Palmieri and Wender, the three historical members of the highly successful radio program.

New this year will be the ice rink at Marina of Loano which together with the’artistic lighting will bring a festive atmosphere to the harbor, providing fun for young and old alike.

Saturday, November 25, at 17.00 in the San Josemaria Escivà Gardens, will be held, in the presence of city and regional authorities, the’inauguration from the marketplace Magic Christmas Village, promoted by the’Multipurpose Cultural Center Association of Loano.

Here families will find the ideal space for children. Bright, handmade decorations gracing the space and small chalets with gift items will immerse visitors in a magical Christmas atmosphere. Framed by a fairy-tale setting, the market will offer a program of entertainment for the whole family and Christmas street food with many holiday goodies.

Santa Claus will be waiting for children in his renovated, cozy little house to take a photo with them and collect Christmas letters. Under an enchanted tree, an elf make-up artist will play with the little ones. In the center of the fountain pool, a sparkling Santa's sleigh will be available for anyone who wishes to take a photograph. The shopping afternoons will be accompanied by. musical events and by animations for the little ones which will take place at 3:30 pm in the performance area of the Magic Christmas Village.

The rich entertainment program will feature the December 2, Sante who will entertain children with musical disco bimbo games and karaoke.

Also dedicated to the little ones is, the December 9, the Christmas Circus, circus arts workshop for children with the group “Uncertain Circus”.

The December 16 the market will be animated by the VoxArt formation composed of the students of the “VoxArt singing at 360°” school directed by Davide Comentale.

The sound of bagpipe and pipita the December 22 will bring back the traditional pastoral Christmas sounds of central and southern Italy and revive the festive atmosphere of Christmas Eve night.

The Uncertain Circus will once again feature the 23 and the 30 December and will lead children to discover the magical world of circus, including balancing and juggling.

The December 26 curtain will rise on the unprecedented “Suddenly you ... on Christmas” curated by the’Modern Jazz Dance Association of Loano directed by Teo Chirico.

In the new year, the Christmas Village will once again be animated by the Uncertain Circus (Jan. 4) that will engage children in juggling, balancing and aerial trapeze exercises. On Epiphany Day, the entertainment review in the Magical Christmas Village will close with the arrival of the befana to the sound of music and lots of ciapelette (candy).

The December 7 at 17.00 the lighting of the big Christmas tree in Italy Square, will kick off the’artistic lighting of the city. The celebration will involve elementary school pupils from the’State Comprehensive Institute Loano-Boissano and of the’Rossello Institute, who will give a vocal concert, and the’Association “U Gunbu de Löa” who will enliven the afternoon by performing a wide repertoire of traditional Christmas carols.

On the same day, the rink on ice set up in the parking area of Marina of Loano and the’artistic lighting in the harbor. The rink will have an area of more than 300 square meters and will be open to young and old alike. The young and inexperienced will be able to try their hand at “skating” on ice thanks to “penguins” who will help beginners keep their balance. The skating rink will be in operation until the January 7.

Throughout the Christmas season, the A Thousand Lights of the Holidays They will enhance the city's commercial streets. Italy Square will be graced by the sparkling Christmas tree. A carpet of lights white LEDs will cover the streets of the historic center (Via Garibaldi, Cavour, Doria and Boragine streets, Piazza Massena, Via Ghilini and Piazza Rocca) and the intersection leading to Monte Carmelo, enveloping them in a warm festive atmosphere. In the heart of the historic center, a succession of glowing spheres will mark the path through the maze of caruggi (Via Ricciardi, Via Rosa Raimodi, Via Rocca, Via Colombo, Via Opisso, Via Giardino,) until reaching Via Stella and a great three-dimensional ball It will beautify Fortress Square.

A sparkling arcade of ice will enhance the streets that line the waterfront (Nazzaro and Sauro streets, Corso Roma, Mazzini Square), Loreto waterfront, Palestro Square, Stella Street, Massena Square. While a bright starry sky Will cover Martyrs Foibe Street and Corso Europa.

Arches of stars will shine on Via Genova, Via Dante, Via Cesarea, Via dei Gazzi, Via Trento Trieste, Via Pascoli and Monte Carmelo.  The holiday season will see the renewal of the Books under the tree Dedicated to reading enthusiasts. You are in all appointments with books, authors, poetry and music. Conducting the meetings will be the curator of the review Graziella Frasca Gallo. Musical and singing accompaniment will be provided by the Master Roberto Sinito. Opening the review, which will take place in the Civic Library, at 16.30, will be the December 2 the presentation of the book “Then kiss me” (Rizzoli, 2017) by Roberto Emanuelli. The December 10 Will be a guest speaker at the Francis Carofiglio. The Apulian writer will present his latest novel “The Master”. A man and his loneliness, an equally lonely girl thirsting for knowledge, an apartment in the heart of Rome and a boundless love for Shakespeare and acting. These are the main ingredients of Carofiglio's novel published by Piemme.

George Genta, president of the Association DopoDomani Onlus will present the December 16 the book “Fighting very severe disability with an (almost) normal life”.

Genta will meet the audience to tell about his experience of resilience in the face of the difficulties that the world of disability experiences every day.

They will be Graziella Frasca Gallo and the Master Roberto Sinito (guitar and vocals) to bring to life the December 23 at the meeting of “Poetry and Music”. The most celebrated authors will be intertwined with lesser-known ones in a journey of emotion and feeling.

The December 30 the review meets Marco Braico, author of the book “First Kiss Theorem” (2017, Piemme), a novel about school, teachers, boys, first loves and life's painful trials.

 “Books Under the Tree.” will close on January 7 with the presentation of the noir “Un foot in two shoes” (2017, Rizzoli) by Bruno Morchio. After Bacci Pagano, Morchio returns with a new serial character to tell a different side of his Genoa. The author will meet the Loano audience to lead them into mysteries greater than those of crime: the secrets of psychology.

Enriching the cultural program of the festivities will be two conferences of the’UNITRE of Loano which will take place in the Council Chamber of Palazzo Doria at 16.00: “The Byzantine Icon” by George Oikonomoy (December 2), “I had a blue handkerchief“ by Franca Benedusi (December 16). The January 4 lectures will give way to the presentation of the book “Mount Carmel by Loano” the account of the Carmelite presence from 1609 to the present.

Finally, the Pro Loco Loano, also in the Council Chamber on the January 5, to the 8:30 pm, will present the book “Ligurian songs unpublished and unreleased“ of George Coggiola. The meeting will be animated by the presence of the choir “I Pertinaci“.

 La music Will accompany the holiday season with concerts in churches, oratories and on the streets. Kicking off the review Celestial Music will be, the December 9 at 18.00, the Christmas Concert at Our Lady of Loreto Church. Protagonist of the inaugural concert, will be Paola Arecco (piano) accompanied by Elizabeth Vosilla (voice) and Gianni Gollo (flute). The pianist will return to perform as a duo on the December 17 at 16.30 at SS. Cosmas and Damian Church. Along with Gianni Gollo (flute) will perform a program of sacred and Christmas music. 

L’Loanese Music Association will present two concerts in the’Oratory of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary (Blue Hats). The December 20 at 17.00 the concert of the City of Loano White Voices Choir and the  December 29 at 21.00 the Christmas Concert of Polyphonic Choir with pieces that belong to the classical tradition of sacred and Christmas music.

“Cantique De Noel“ is the title of the concert of the December 23 which will take place at 9 p.m. at Church of St. Augustine. The evening's program includes songs related to the festive season of Christmas performed by Melissa Briozzo.

The review on the December 26 will move into the Convent of Mount Carmel where at the 4 p.m. Nicoletta Ghilino e Davide Baglietto will perform a concert of voice, piano and bagpipes dedicated to Christmas.

The December 30 the Church of St. Augustine will host at 9:15 p.m. the concert “Chorale Song Christmas in Quartet” with Simona Briozzo (voice) Marco Cravero (electric/acoustic guitar), Federico Fugassa (double bass), Alexander Gratian (violin). The repertoire will range from classic traditional Christmas songs with a few forays into gospel.

Celestial Music will close in the’Oratory of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, the January 6 With the last concert of the annual review “The Concerts of the Turks -  The Musics of the Soul.”. At hrs. 16,45 the chamber orchestra The Arches of Zinaida will perform music by Vivaldi, Sarasate, Saint-Saens e Paganini under the guidance of the concertmaster Maria Caterina Carlini.

The January 5 will return to animate Italy Square the musical appointment Winter tales organized by the’Society of the Curious Association. The big party with dances from the Occitan Valleys will begin to heat up, from the 17.00, with the duo consisting of. Luca Declementi (accordion, voice, fifre and bagpipe) and David Bagnis (drums). Musicians from the group Lou Pitakass will then give way to the GRAN BAL DUB the project of Sergio Berardo (Lou Dalfin) e Madaski (Africa United), which combines the tradition of Occitania and its dances with the sound of electronics and dub.

Music will also be the main ingredient of the New Year's Eve in the square which will greet the end of 2017.

The band of the Supernovanta will accompany the audience until the chimes of midnight with a show in which the DJ-set will meet male and female voices, sax, guitar and percussion to create great live entertainment.

The show will focus on the biggest dance hits of the 1990s with slight forays into the early 2000s, and with a look at the evergreens of the 1970s and 1980s and the classic songs that mark the entrance to the new year.

The legendary countdown will be entrusted to a truly exceptional trio, super guests of the evening named after them as new year's eve by LO ZOO DI 105.

Announcing the first minute of 2018 will be Paolo Noise, Pippo Palmieri and Wender, three historical members of the most irreverent and successful program on Italian radio. The “bad boys,” who every afternoon from Radio 105 make the audience of young people and not only laugh, will involve the square with music and sketches to start the new year with a smile. The finale of the evening will be entrusted to the Supernovanta.

The celebration will continue on first January, with the spectacular fireworks scheduled inlle 18.00 at Kursaal Pier. After the fireworks display in the parking area of Marina of Loano a free concert.  

Dec. 28 the XXXI^ edition of the Winter Swimming Tournament. In the body of water in front of the Medusa Baths, from the 10 a.m., avid try-hards will test themselves by tackling the traditional end-of-year “dip in the sea.”.  

Completing the Christmas festivities program will be the Mulled wine and hot chocolate of Alpine Group of Loano which will take place on December 30 and the January 5 at 6 p.m., in Vittorio Vento Square. The traditional distribution of hot wine and chocolate will aim to raise funds for the Gaslini Hospital in Genoa.

During the holidays also at the Marina Yacht Club of Loano two “special” dinners will be held: one on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) and another on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31).

In Doria Palace Finally, the following will be set up two exhibitions. From the’Dec. 1 to 15 you can visit the exhibition of paintings created as part of the UNITRE art workshop of Loano and by the 21 to Jan. 7 the artist's solo exhibition Roberto Lafornara who will present some of his latest works, in a pop art style, created on materials such as vinyl, jute and packing cardboard.

In Kursaal Palace from Dec. 22 to Jan. 7 you can visit the exhibition Loano for the sea. The central hall of the Kursaal palace will display the most significant pieces of the collection dedicated to seafaring in Loano and the province of Savona, which the Marinara Lodanum Cultural Association has carefully preserved in the small museum. The exhibition will be open daily from 3 to 6 p.m.

 Sailing and soccer will be the stars of Loano's Christmas in sports. From Dec. 4 to 9 and from the Dec. 15 to 20 the Federal Center for Advanced Specialization in Sailing of Italian Sailing Federation, in collaboration with the Nautical Circle of Loano and the Marina of Loano, will host the training of the Women's 49er class (Nov. 13/18) and the Men's 49er class.

From 27 at December 30, in the Palazzetto dello Sport E. Garassini, the’A.S.D. Loanesi San Francesco will be engaged in organizing the City of Loano Youth Soccer Tournament - “Ettore Mussi” Trophy.” reserved for Chicks and Little Friends categories.
