{:en}PRESS RELEASE (11/21/2017)

Loano not only sea” proposes for Thursday, November 23 a guided hike in the Finalese hinterland, organized by the Loano section of the C.A.I.. under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Loano.

The meeting for participants will be at 8:30 a.m. in the Valerga Square parking lot at Loano, possibly with your own car.

“This week's hike, along the Purchin Trail, will start from Finalborgo. - He explains. Beppe Peretti, CAI hiking companion of Loano - We will ascend along a section of the 17th-century Beretta road that first flanks the mighty structure of Castel San Giovanni and then transits under the ancient walls of Castel Gavone, recently renovated and distinguished by the characteristic Tower of Diamonds. From here we will continue until we reach the village of Perti Alta and the church of Sant'Eusebio, enclosed by a spectacular passage along its right flank and apse area.

From Sant'Eusebio one will take a small road that will soon become a path that will lead, through areas of Mediterranean scrub, to the Rocca di Perti quarry, which has been closed for more than a decade. This will lead to the Bassa della Rocca, where one can admire curious rock erosions commonly called “le Formaggette,” and soon after to another quarry, older than the previous one and from which in the Middle Ages material for large constructions ( e.g., Castel Gavone) was extracted. After passing near the traces of a castellaro, with a small uphill path we will reach the top of the Rocca di Perti, near which we will have our lunch break.

The descent back to the starting point will touch Pian Marino and passing under some climbing crags we will return to the Perti Alta area. Finally through a path among vegetable gardens, olive trees and perimeter walls we will return to Finalborgo, thus closing the loop.”

The excursion is free. For non-CAI members to participate in the outing, accident and mountain rescue insurance is required, which must be requested by noon on the day before the activity is to be held by calling 019.67.23.66 or 349.78.54.220.{:}
