Loano not only sea” proposes for Thursday, September 27 a guided hike AL PIANA CRIXIA PARK (mt 419), organized by the Loano section of the C.A.I.. under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Municipality of Loano.

The meeting for participants will be at 8:30 a.m. In the Valerga Square parking lot at Loano.

“This hill-type walk," explains Beppe Peretti, CAI hiking leader of Loano - will take place all within the Piana Crixia Nature Park, and we will be accompanied by Maria Paola Chiarlone, municipal park manager.

The itinerary will begin in the hamlet of Borgo, where the baroque parish church of Santi Martiri stands, and will immediately take us to the famous Piana Crixia Mushroom, a gigantic and spectacular geological formation unique in Europe that exceeds 15 m in height, the symbol of the park.

From here the hike will continue, first touching the hamlets of Praie and Pontevecchio, and then skirting the bank of the Bormida and then that of the Bealera. In this area we will admire a large snowmill, renovated by local volunteers and restored to its primitive structure.

We will then descend into the area of the calanchi, grayish erosive formations characteristic in the Langhe but rare in Liguria, which stand out in the green of the surrounding fields and woods, and from here we will return to the cars.”

The excursion is free. For non-CAI members to participate in the outing, accident and mountain rescue insurance is required and must be obtained by noon on the day before the activity is to be held by calling 019.67.23.66 or 349.78.54.220.{:}{:en}PRESS RELEASE (9/26/2017)
