{:en}PRESS RELEASE (5/9/2017)

From Thursday, Sept. 7, will resume the appointments of “Loano not only sea”, a program curated by the Loano section of the C.A.I.. under the auspices of the’Department of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the City of Loano.

After the summer break, free hikes, led by Loano CAI leaders, to explore the beautiful Ligurian landscape and beyond, return.

The first destination (September 7) will be Mount Sebanco (m. 982), which will be reached from Giogo di Toirano. The meeting for participants will be at 8:30 a.m. In the Valerga Square parking lot at Loano.

“Loano not only sea," explains Beppe Peretti, hiking companion of the CAI of Loano - resumes with a not too demanding itinerary, a route that allows us to achieve the aims of our project: to do a healthy sporting activity, get to know the territory and spend a day in company. From Giogo di Toirano we will climb to the left and following the dirt road of the Alta Via dei Monti Liguri we will reach near Mount Sebanco. Shortly before reaching it we will leave the Alta Via to take a beautiful path that with numerous ups and downs among thick woods and meadowy openings will take us, in about an hour and a half, to the charming little church of San Nicolò di Bardineto, an ancient Romanesque parish church that preserves inside valuable frescoes dating back to the 15th century. Here we will be met by a local guide, provided by the Bardineto Municipality, who will explain the history and paintings of the parish church. After the visit in a few minutes we will go down to the spring of the same name, known and frequented by many for the goodness and purity of its water. Here we will also find some tables for a lunch stop. The return will be on a paved section that will take us to a dirt road, lower than the outward route, and skirting a stream we will reach the Alta Via and the Giogo di Toirano, thus closing the loop.”

“The tours will continue until December. - says the Councillor for Tourism, Culture and Sports.  Remo Zaccaria - Most of the itineraries will be exploring the Loano and Savona hinterland, although there will be no shortage of excursions outside the province and region.

Loano is an excellent starting point for trips to the surrounding area, and Loano not only sea has won over time a prominent place in the tourist offer of our city. The variety of proposed itineraries will provide an opportunity to learn about the environmental wealth of our territory and the historical and architectural heritage, which characterizes the small inland villages.

Thanks to the C.A.I. members of Loano, who again this year with commitment and passion have prepared a program that is an opportunity for socialization and well-being in contact with nature.”

The excursion is free. For non-CAI members to participate in the outing, accident and mountain rescue insurance is required, which must be requested by noon on the day before the activity is to be held by calling 019.67.23.66 or 349.78.54.220.
